Стали известны приблизительные сроки выпуска новых российских банкнот достоинством 200 и 2000 рублей. Новые купюры могут поступить в обращение в октябре 2017 года, а банкнота, выпускаемая специально к проведению Чемпионата мира по футболу в России – в марте 2018 года. Банкноты номиналом 200 и 2000 рублей пройдут обработку специальным составом, увеличивающим срок службы купюр, а «футбольная» купюра даже может быть изготовлена из пластика. 

Напомним, ранее Центробанк утвердил дизайн новых денег, однако без уточнения деталей. Символами, выбранными для печати на купюрах в процессе всероссийского голосования, стали Дальний Восток с его космодромом «Восточный» и мостом на остров Русский (для банкноты в 2000 рублей) и Севастополь с изображением памятника затопленным кораблям и видом на Херсонес Таврический (для банкноты в 200 рублей). Всего в конкурсе были рассмотрены более 5 тысяч достопримечательностей и памятных мест 113 городов России.
