Премьер-министр Великобритании Тереза Мэй уходит в отставку после объявления о победе Бориса Джонсона на выборах лидера Консервативной партии.

Сегодня Мэй должна произнести свою последнюю речь в парламенте, а затем направиться в Букингемский дворец, где королева Великобритании Елизавета II официально примет ее отставку.

На выборах лидера Консервативной партии Борис Джонсон с большим отрывом обошел своего главного конкурента главу МИД Джереми Ханта. В результате Джонсон сменит Мэй на посту главы правительства Великобритании.

Борис Джонсон занимает жёсткую позицию относительно Brexit. По его мнению, до 31 октября Великобритания любыми способами должна выйти из состава Евросоюза. Несмотря на сильную поддержку со стороны однопартийцев, не все его сторонники разделяют идею жесткого Brexit.

Ранее министр финансов Великобритании Филип Хаммонд и министре юстиции Великобритании Дэвид Гоке заявили, что уйдут в отставку в случае победы Джонсона. В понедельник замминистра иностранных дел Великобритании Алан Данкан оставил свой пост в знак протеста против вероятной победы Джонсона.
