Пресс-служба Еврокомиссии: в Энергетический союз будут входить только государства-члены Евросоюза. 

Ранее СМИ сообщали, что новый Энергетический союз может иметь «внешнее измерение». Однако это не означает, что в союз будут входить третьи страны, – пояснили в пресс-службе ведомства.

Евросоюз в настоящее время стремится обезопасить себя в энергетическом отношении, в частности – максимально сократить зависимость от РФ – основного экспортера газа в Европу. Поэтому Энергосоюз ЕС активно ищет новые рынки и способы поставок энергоресурсов. Например – «Южный газовый коридор», который должен уменьшить долю российского газа в ЕС и исключить транзит газа по территории Украины.

Таким образом, приоритетом для Энергосоюза в работе с третьими странами является достижение целей и задач Евросоюза, а именно сокращение зависимости от поставок энергоресурсов, освоение новых источников, перераспределение энергии внутри ЕС.
