Anu Iyengar, head of mergers and acquisitions at JPMorgan, pointed out the huge potential for global investment – today investors have about $2 trillion, of which $100 to $150 billion are concentrated in the Indian market.
The analyst notes that today it is difficult to find another market with such growth characteristics, stability and technological progress as India. The rapid growth of the country's GDP indicates a favorable economic situation.
However, despite all the advantages, the volume of mergers and acquisitions in India has decreased by 72% since the beginning of the year compared to the same period in 2022, amounting to $33 billion.
JPMorgan ranks second in the world in terms of mergers and acquisitions since the beginning of the year, rising from third place in 2022. In the Indian market, key sectors include high technology, healthcare, infrastructure and the transition to new energy sources.
Iyengar also sees opportunities for investors in the public stock market, especially against the background of declining activity in the IPO market. He mentioned the «double deal making» where asset owners can choose between IPOs or M&A deals to sell their assets.
