In Great Britain the average price for gasoline exceeded the level of 1,785 pounds sterling, which was the highest in the history of statistics. It is worth noting that the historical highs of prices are updated in Britain every few days over the past few months. In addition, against the background of problems of oil refineries around the world and rising energy prices due to sanctions against Russia, the cost of diesel fuel is also growing. Its price has risen to a record 1.852 pounds per liter. In 2021, gasoline and diesel in the UK cost an average of 1.29 and 1.31 pounds per liter. Experts note that the increase in the cost of fuel in the country is observed even despite the reduction by the British government of the fuel duty by 5 pence per liter for the period up to March 2023. Analysts warn that record high fuel prices in the UK will inevitably lead to increased inflationary pressure. By the end of April, annual inflation in the country accelerated to 9% – the highest in 40 years. The Bank of England expects that by the end of the year the inflation rate in the United Kingdom will exceed 10%.
