Спотовая стоимость сжиженного природного газа (СПГ) в Азии выросла до максимальных уровней за последние 10 месяцев. Скачок цены произошел в результате повышения спроса на газ в преддверии зимнего периода в Северном полушарии. Индекс Japan-Korea Marker (JKM) в ноябре, рассчитываемый S&P Global Platts, достиг вчера ценового уровня в $9,35 за 1 млн британских тепловых единиц (BTU). Подобный показатель почти на треть выше значений аналогичного периода прошлого года. 

Генеральный директор оператора газовозов GasLog Пол Воган отметил, что обычно в осенние месяцы на рынке сырья наблюдается затишье. Однако в этом году Индия столкнулась с дефицитом угля, что создало дополнительный спрос на сжиженный газ. 

Более того, Китай стремится заменить большую часть угольной генерации природным газом в целях решения экологических проблем. Минувшим летом спрос на СПГ превысил прошлогодние показатели на 30%. В результате КНР существенно нарастила импорт газа, несмотря на отсутствие достаточного количества газохранилищ. Цены на сжиженный газ уже являются завышенными, и власти Китая опасаются, что холодная зима может привести к еще более существенному росту спотовых цен.
