Brazil will import Russian diesel

In October, Russia set a new record for the export of diesel fuel to Brazil, despite a number of restrictions.

Analysts note that Brazil has bypassed Turkey and has become the main consumer of Russian diesel fuel. Russian companies successfully competed with American refineries, offering more favorable conditions for the Brazilian market.

Despite the ban on the export of gasoline and diesel fuel introduced in Russia on September 21 to stabilize domestic prices, exceptions were made for the export of diesel fuel through pipelines.

Before that, Turkey was the main buyer of Russian diesel fuel, consuming up to 40% of total export volumes. However, in October there was a decrease in supplies to Turkey and an increase in exports to Brazil. This growth may be due to increased shipments through the Baltic ports in comparison with Novorossiysk.

After the G7 countries imposed restrictions on Russian oil, Russia began to actively expand the geography of its maritime supplies, attracting such large buyers as India and China.

Experts believe that although Turkey was a convenient market from the point of view of logistics, the decision to reorient supplies was caused by the imposed export ban.
