Министр нефти Кувейта Бахит аль-Рашиди сообщил, что соглашение о сокращении добычи нефти будет действовать до конца 2018 года. Кроме того, на встрече ОПЕК+ в июне стороны обсудят возможности продления сделки на 2019 год.

По словам министра, на решение о продлении соглашения повлияет ситуация на мировом рынке нефти.

Ранее министр нефти Ирака Джаббар аль-Лаиби также заявил, что представители нескольких стран-участников соглашения предложили продлить его еще на полгода.

В конце 2016 года в Вене члены ОПЕК и ряд не входящих в организацию нефтедобывающих стран договорились сократить уровень добычи нефти на 1,8 млн баррелей в сутки, чтобы стабилизировать цену на нефтяном рынке. Позднее сделку продлили до конца 2018 года.
