«Великое затмение» обойдется компаниям США в $694 млн

Сегодня вечером по московскому времени жители многих американских штатов будут иметь возможность наблюдать так называемое «Великое затмение». Поскольку затмение произойдет в рабочее время, и многие американцы попытаются его увидеть, даже 20-минутная потеря работы обойдется американским компаниям в $694 млн.  

Согласно подсчетам  компании Challenger, Gray & Christmas, около 83% американских работников заняты в будние дни. Проанализировав эти данные, а также размер  средней почасовой оплаты труда в США, компания смогла рассчитать примерную стоимость приостановки рабочих процессов. 

Однако существует и другая сторона медали. Редкое природное явление сможет принести и значительную выгоду, в частности – от туризма. По данным USA Today, наплыв туристов сегодня позволит увеличить доходы от туризма на $15-$20 млн. В штате Южная Каролина, где затмение будет видно сильнее всего, туристические доходы могут вырасти до $43 млн.
