US Commerce Department chief Wilbur Ross said today that the United States is imposing duties on sheet aluminum goods worth $1.96 billion from 18 countries. The fees are effective immediately. The list of countries that will be affected by the duty includes Germany, Bahrain, Oman, Brazil, Croatia, Egypt, Greece, India, Indonesia, Italy, Romania, Serbia, Slovenia, South Africa, South Korea, Spain, Taiwan and Turkey. Back in March, the US Department of Commerce launched an investigation into possible dumping by 18 countries in the US aluminum market.
