The White House has warned of imposing duties on Chinese goods of up to 245% in response to Beijing's retaliatory actions against American «reciprocal» tariffs. The Donald Trump administration has also proposed a strategy for China's economic isolation, discussing it with a number of countries. The president reportedly intends to use negotiations on tariff agreements with 70 countries to limit their economic ties with Beijing. Washington demands commitments from partners to limit cooperation with China, promising in return to reduce trade barriers. Among the proposed measures is a ban on the transportation of Chinese goods through the territories of these countries and restrictions on the opening of branches of Chinese companies. These actions are designed to weaken the Chinese economy and force Beijing to enter into negotiations. Earlier, Trump said that countries should choose with whom to cooperate – with the United States or with China.
