During a press conference, the head of the German Bundestag Defense Committee, Marie-Agnes Strack-Zimmerman, said that the Nord Stream-2 gas pipeline would not be able to start working as long as a large number of Russian military personnel are concentrated on the border with Ukraine. The head of the Bundestag committee reiterated her position that Nord Stream 2 is not just a private economic project, but is closely linked to geostrategy (if gas supplies to Germany are organized bypassing Ukraine). Russia categorically rejects the plans attributed to it to destabilize the situation around Ukraine and constantly emphasizes that it does not pose a threat to anyone and moves troops on its territory and at its discretion. Russia calls all the accusations in its favor a pretext for deploying more NATO military equipment at the Russian borders. Recall that Nord Stream-2 is a new export gas pipeline with a capacity of 55 billion cubic meters per year, going from Russia to Europe. At the moment, the gas pipeline is undergoing the certification procedure in the German regulator. However, this procedure has been suspended pending the necessary documentation and as a result of the escalation of geopolitical tensions.
