The EU expresses confidence in the successful outcome of discussions with the United States aimed at regulating trade relations and customs duties. In Brussels, the representative of the European Commission, Tom Rainier, said he hoped to sign the agreement before July 9. In the spring, the EU temporarily suspended the introduction of retaliatory measures against American products, which was a response to a similar step by the United States. This step was planned for three months and was supposed to create favorable conditions for dialogue. At the moment, active consultations are continuing between representatives of Brussels and Washington. Their goal is to smooth out existing contradictions and reach a compromise that will help the Union avoid a significant increase in duties on exports to the United States, which could reach 50%. The time frame for the completion of negotiations is limited – the deadline expires on July 9th.
