In the fourth quarter of 2024, Germany's GDP decreased by 0.2% compared to the previous three months. These data are presented in the report of the Federal Statistical Agency of Germany, which published the revised figures. Thus, the dynamics of GDP coincided with both preliminary estimates and forecasts of experts interviewed by analysts. Consumer spending in the country increased by 0.1% from October to December compared with the previous quarter, while government spending increased by 0.4%. Gross investments in fixed assets also showed an increase of 0.4%. Nevertheless, exports decreased by 2.2% in the fourth quarter, while imports increased by 0.5%. On an annualized basis, German GDP for October-December also decreased by 0.2%, taking into account the number of working days, which is in line with preliminary estimates and expectations of analysts. In the third quarter, the country's economy showed a slight growth of 0.1% in quarterly terms, but it decreased by 0.3% y/y. Thus, by the end of 2024, Germany's GDP decreased by 0.2%. Preliminary data on GDP dynamics for the first quarter is expected on April 30.
