The European Commission, which represents the interests of the EU, is ready to put forward a number of demands, including reducing 10% tariffs on alcohol and medical equipment and concluding deals in the aviation, pharmaceutical and semiconductor sectors. The United States has launched investigations in these sectors, but has not yet introduced new tariffs. In addition, the EU is seeking concessions on 25% duties on cars, auto parts, steel and aluminum, considering car taxes to be a matter of principle. After returning to power, Trump focused his trade criticism on the EU, accusing Europe of unfair trade with the United States.
