China has become the first country in the world to include a small nuclear reactor in its energy system, which is designed to become a source of limitless and clean energy. At the same time, fossil fuels will not be required for energy production, and hazardous waste will not be generated as a result of the activity. This proves once again that the Celestial Empire rightfully claims to be a world leader in nuclear energy. The Chinese experimental fusion reactor Experimental Advanced Superconducting Tokamak (EAST), also known as the «artificial Sun», was re-launched recently and set a new world record for continuous plasma operation at high temperature for 1056 seconds (over 17 minutes). EAST held plasma 2.6 times hotter than the core of the Sun – 70 million degrees Celsius. The task of EAST, like other tokamaks (toroidal chambers with magnetic coils), is to create nuclear fusion, similar to what happens on the Sun. Unlike fossil fuels, the raw materials needed for the «artificial Sun» are on Earth in almost limitless quantities. Therefore, thermonuclear energy is considered ideal and clean for the future of mankind. China has already spent more than $942 billion on the experimental installation. More than 10 thousand scientists are working on it. At the same time, EAST is part of a project to create an International Thermonuclear experimental reactor, in which China, the United States, Russia, the European Union, India and other countries participate. It is also known that China intends to invest $440 billion in nuclear energy over the next 15 years.
